In 2014 Biometric Design Systems brought out the brand Insignety, producing personalized rings that incorporate biometric feedback, such as a heartbeat, in their design. Together with their clients jewelers are able to choose the characteristics of a ring; for example the section of the heartbeat that will be engraved, placement of diamonds, shape and size of the ring, etc.

Insignety & EagleScience

The role of EagleScience in this project was to create a software platform that supports the complete process of design, purchase, fabrication and delivery through an online back end system. EagleScience created an application to support the jewelers, allowing them to record the biometric feedback and incorporate it in the design of the ring. From this design a 3D model is created and used during the fabrication process. We also created a management system to aid the jewelers and manufactures to make invoices, print out orders, communicate and monitor progress.

The Braincarta project is intended to assist neurosurgeons by making the state of the art imaging of brain function available to (non-academic) hospitals.

Introduction

The Braincarta project is intended to assist neurosurgeons by making the state of the art imaging of brain function available to (non-academic) hospitals. With standardized and validated data collection and an automated processing pipeline we can provide the neurosurgeons with information on location of important brain areas, and thereby improve risk assessment of surgery. Patients will benefit from more informed decision making.

Our Goal

BrainCarta aims to assist neurosurgeons in their decision whether to operate and remove a tumor or not. We will provide surgeons with information on the areas involved in movement and language in relations to the position of the tumor. Advanced algorithms will determine how much the data can be trusted. Results are provided in a clinical report. In the future the results will be easily available as 3D function maps in the neuronavigator during surgery.

Braincarta & EagleScience

Eaglescience will be a key player in the development of the core software used in Braincarta. We will use our IT knowledge combined with software development skills for academic research institutions to ensure a safe, medically approved, reliable tool to contribute to informed medical decision making in functional neurosurgery.

Banenruil is a new and alternative idea to find and connect employees who are dissatisfied about some part of their job. For the ones who travel between home and work and who are unable or unwilling to move but do want to travel less.

Our Goal

With Banenruil, employees have the opportunity to swap jobs in order to reduce the amount of time spent commuting to their workplaces. Members of Banenruil build a profile of their current and desired working environment, which is matched against other profiles. A swap can be initiated when a desirable match is found. The goal is to provide more free time, less travel time and a higher quality of work and life.

Banenruil & EagleScience

EagleScience implements the high performance engine that matches profiles of employees using state of the art techniques. Users can assign weights to subjects they think are important, influencing the match results. The engine also generates smart feedback about the optimum ordering of matches.

Through the SamenStarten program, kids and families with a specific need (i.e. parenting or financial issues) are quickly identified and supported. However, nurses are not always capable of providing the required assistance during house calls. In order to improve this, an iPad app has been developed to enhance the communication between nurses and parents.

Our Goal

In order to improve this, an iPad app has been developed to enhance the communication between nurses and parents. The app provides information on aid agencies (such as social services), as well as information tailored to the parents' needs.

The project was coordinated by TNO, in cooperation with JGZ (Jeugdgezondheidzorg) Amsterdam. Eaglescience developed the application, in consultation with nurses and stakeholders.

The Brainwave eReader project enables new features for eBooks and tablets by measuring the reader’s emotional state of mind. A combination of neurophysiological measures like EEG, heartbeat or skin conductance are used to enrich eBooks and tablets with images, sounds or a dialogue between readers.

Introduction

Eaglescience participates in a unique project: Brainwave eReader. International bestselling writer Arnon Grunberg has written a book especially for a short valorization project called Quantified Reader.

Our Goal

This project will evaluate a proof of concept product that will enhance the reading experience for e-book readers through measuring emotions of the reader and share them with others. Brainwave eReader is part of this valorization project. New features for eBooks and tablets are constantly being developed. Imagine features like: enriching an eBook or tablet experience with images and sounds, adjusting the storyline or engaging dialogue between readers. The Brainwave eReader project enables all these items by measuring the reader’s emotional state of mind by using a combination of (neuro) physiological measures (such as EEG, heartbeat, skin conductance) and subjective measures.

COMMIT is a public-private research community where universities, technological institutes and small & large businesses participate in public-private multi-party projects. Project SWELL (Smart Reasoning Systems for Well-being at Work and at Home) is one of the COMMIT projects. Brainwave eReader is part of project SWELL.

The objective of SWELL is to develop user-centric sensing and reasoning techniques that help to improve physical well-being (mostly in a private context) and to improve well-working (in a work context). Of course physical well-being influences well-working and vice versa. Well-working could be defined as "being and feeling in control", with a positive impact on work efficiency and effectiveness, work pleasure, mental and physical health status.

Marc Grootjen
Managing Director
Marc graduated the Naval Academy in 2000 as a Technical officer and received his MSc in Mechanical Engineering at the Delft University of Technology in 2002. He left the Royal Netherlands Navy in 2009 as a Lieutenant Commander to found EagleScience.

Franc Grootjen
Senior Research scientist
Franc Grootjen is senior research scientist at EagleScience and assistant professor Artificial Intelligence at the Radboud University, the Netherlands. He studied Mathematics and Computing Science (MSc degree 1992). In 2005 he received his PhD degree in Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science at the Radboud University Nijmegen, the Netherlands.

Interests

His main interest is the broad application of mathematical and cognitive techniques in a linguistic environment such as Information Retrieval, gaming, real time simulation and Knowledge Representation.
Michiel Noordam
IT Project Manager
Between 2003 and 2006 Michiel obtained his degree in Business Economics and Information Technology. After several years within different job positions, such as senior user and coordinator for IT product development within aviation and educational industry, he joined Eaglescience in 2013 as an IT Project Manager. As part of facilitating Agile project and product management for our innovative and inspiring business partners, he obtained the Professional Scrum Master PSM 1 certificate in 2014. Besides working for Eaglescience, Michiel also holds a commercial pilot degree and works as a Captain for KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.

Bas Breijer
Scrum Master & Senior Developer
In 2004 Bas obtained his Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering. To answer the open questions he decided to continue studying. He completed his Master of Science in Computer Engineering at the Delft University of Technology in 2007. After graduating he started working in the mobility automation division of Siemens for 7 years. Since 2014 he joined Eaglescience to bring the company to an even higher standard using his experience and practical view on science.

Interests

Novel programming techniques, automation of error prone tasks (testing, deploying, ...), pinball machines, dancing.
Alexander Dirkzwager
Software Developer
Alex has had a very international upbringing, due to his father's work, living in various parts of the world (USA, Japan, Netherlands, Australia and Curacao). In 2013 he received his MSc in Computer Science at the Delft University of Technology specializing in Man-Machine-Interaction. He has been working at EagleScience since 2010.

Remco van der Zon
Software Developer
Remco graduated in the field of computer science in 2014 at Delft University of Technology, after doing an internship at TNO. During his study, Remco joined EagleScience as a parttime employee, but is now employed on a full time basis. Remco is an all-round computer expert. He is mostly intereseted in projects on designing and using information systems.

Linux, software technologies, the semantic web, information systems, and information retrieval.
Wessel van Staal
Software Developer
Wessel studied computing science and received his master's degree cum laude from the Radboud University in Nijmegen in 2013. He joined EagleScience in 2013, working on projects for TNO Human Factors.

Applied scientific research, Software architecture, Volleyball.
Geert Pingen
Software Developer
Geert holds a bachelor's degree in Artificial Intelligence at the Radboud University in Nijmegen and is currently pursuing a master's in Software Engineering at the UT. He is employed part time at EagleScience, working on software development and interface design.

Rik van den Brule
Software Developer
Rik studies Artificial Intelligence and obtained his MSc degree at the Radboud University Nijmegen in 2010. He stayed at the university to work on his PhD project on the role of trust in Human-Robot Interaction, a degree he hopes to obtain in 2015. In 2014, he joined EagleScience.

Falco Negenman
Designer

Falco has started as an intern and is now an all-round designer at Eaglescience. He designs for a variety of clients and projects at Eaglescience. He is studying Communication and Multimedia Design at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences and expects to finish in 2016. Falco has a passion for web design, interface design and user experience design. This passion is the reason he followed a minor program of User Experience Design in Amsterdam.

Falco loves to create concepts, which solves common user problems. He enjoys thinking about the small details, like micro interactions, to create great user experiences. With the goal to make his designs easy to use and beautiful to look at.

Besides his passion for designing, Falco is really big on photography.
Robbert Dijkhuis
I am sure there is a title for what I do, but I do not need one to do my work properly.
Robbert joined Eaglescience in 2013 to take care of backoffice and administrative work. So where his colleagues mostly work with just the 0 and the 1 while programming, he uses the other numbers too. Robbert has several years of experience in the hospitality branch and has been working as a freelancer organising smaller companies and advising in administrative and tax issues.

Tanja Neijboer
Quality Manager
Tanja joined Eaglescience at the start of 2015 to take care of the implementation of ISO Quality Management and to take care of the back office. She has extensive experience working within various young, fresh companies where she fulfilled various functions. This makes her an all round professional with a passion for new exciting projects.

Furthermore, Tanja works as a freelance text editor and supports in administrative issues.

James Liu
Intern


James Liu (Tianyu Liu) comes originally from Shanghai, China. As a student at Hogeschool Zeeland, University of Applied Sciences he is majoring in Mechatronics. Currently, James is finishing his graduation thesis by joining the Eaglescience team working on Motosense. By doing research on the embedded platform, James is participating in the design and implementation of Motosense. James enjoys the Eaglescience environment: "I think my colleges are nice and friendly, I have learned a lot during my internship" After his graduation, James would like to attend the Computer Science Master program in Eindhoven University of Technology.

Rian Grootjen
System/network manager
Rian obtained his Bachelor in Electrical Engineering and Telecommunication. Rian is an all round professional with extensive technical experience, being a system/network manager and facility manager in several data centre. Rian has a wide set of interests regarding technical issues, which makes him a key teammember within Eaglescience. This is what Rian enjoys doing most within Eaglescience, automation, technical advising and projectmanagement.

In his spare time, Rian likes to go sailing and relax.
